I've been homeschooling for over 15 years now, and I have learned many lessons, including a ton of them the hard way! I want to share with you three tips I recently thought of that may be helpful for anyone who homeschools or even in parenting generally. I hope they serve you!
TIP 1 is to be flexible with the season you're in. It took me many children (and even having one or two of them graduate) before I realized that I can be more flexible. Kids love to learn, and they will find ways to learn! Don't be so hard on yourself making allllll the things happen. By letting them have time and space to simply play and explore, your children will pick up on things you never could have lesson planned out.
TIP 2 is about reading together. Honestly, I used to not even like reading out loud to kids. But, now I realize that reading together is bonding and learning all at the same time, especially with the right books! Some of my best memories with my older children are from when they were young and we would be reading together. Sometimes I read with them in groups, sometimes individually, sometimes I even record myself reading! It all works.
And finally, TIP 3 is our school week is FOUR DAYS A WEEK! It may or may not be for everyone, but it's for me!!!! I have always done four days a week, saving one day to explore or rest or just live life. You can't change my mind that this is the way ha ha. We actually do fit five day schedules into four very easily, so we miss nothing and have more fun!
